Bruce Willis Biography

Bruce Willis

Name: Bruce Willis
Profession: Actor, Producer
Birth Date: March 19, 1955
Height: 5’ 11”

Born in West Germany, Bruce Willis spent most of his childhood in Penns Grove, N.J. After graduating from high school, Willis landed a blue-collar job at the DuPont Chambers Works factory, a position he later quit after being shaken up by a co-worker’s death on the job. He soon began his acting career by enrolling in the drama program at Montclair State University in N.J., which led to him making his theater debut in the off-Broadway production of “Heaven and Earth.”

A move to California soon followed and Willis started auditioning for roles. He caught his first big break when he was cast alongside Cybill Shepherd in the television series “Moonlighting,” which ran for four seasons from 1985-89.

During the show's run, Willis made the leap to the big screen, first starring in 1987’s “Blind Date” with Kim Basinger. The following year, he landed the role of disillusioned cop John McClane in “Die Hard.” The film broke box-office records, launched several sequels and skyrocketed Willis to superstardom.

As an established actor, Willis has appeared in such notable films over the years as “Look Who’s Talking” (1989), “Pulp Fiction” (1994), “Twelve Monkeys” (1995), “The Sixth Sense” (1999), “The Whole Nine Yards” (2000) and “Sin City” (2005).
