HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Gwyneth Paltrow is in the final stages of a detox program that the actress boasts "worked wonders" for her.
"I am finishing the amazing three-week-long 'Clean' detox program," the 36-year-old star writes in her latest GOOP newsletter journal.
The "Clean" detox program is designed by New York cardiologist and detoxification specialist Dr. Alejandro Junger. The first step is to remove toxins from the body by avoiding processed foods, followed by restoring the body with a focus on consuming nutrient-rich foods such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and legumes. Junger also suggests at least fifteen minutes of sun exposure every day in order to sustain better levels of vitamin D for bone strength and protection from cancer and depression.
The final step of the program centers around rejuvenation. Junger suggest several yearly tests commonly missing from physical exams, as well making time for "detox-enhancing" habits such as sauna, massage, hot and cold baths, and skin brushing. Lastly, Junger recommends at least five minutes of meditation per day.
"This program allowed me to work and exercise regularly, something I cannot do if I am on a liquid-only detox," explained Paltrow. "I followed it to the letter and I can report that it worked wonders."
"I feel pure and happy and much lighter," she continued. "I dropped the extra pounds that I had gained during a majorly fun and delicious 'relax and enjoy life phase' about a month ago."
Paltrow also underwent a detox program earlier this year with Junger in order to shed some unwanted holiday pounds.
