The R&B star was light on details as he announced his forthcoming tour, which will begin in December. Prince said he will perform and play master of ceremonies at each show, which will feature such artists as Maceo Parker, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, Cassandra Wilson and his "favorite," Janelle Monáe.

"Come early and come often," he said. "No concert is ever the same."

Some have speculated that Prince may take up residency at the famed New York theater.
