Faith Hill was born Audrey Faith Perry in Ridgeland, Miss. on September 21, 1967. She was adopted as an infant by Ted and Edna Perry. The Perry's raised Hill along with their two biological sons (Ted and Wesley) in the nearby small town of Star.
Hill began singing for her family and, at the age of 7, she performed publicly for the first time at a 4-H luncheon. By the time she was a teenager, she was a regular performer at area churches. At 17, Hill joined a band and performed at local fairs and rodeos. She quit college at 19 and moved to Nashville to pursue her singing career. She sold T-shirts and eventually was hired as a secretary for a music publishing company.
A co-worker heard Hill singing to herself one day. Eventually, the company head encouraged Hill to become a demo singer for the firm. She also performed professionally as a harmony vocalist behind singer/songwriter/producer Gary Burr. A Warner Brothers executive caught Burr and Hill's act at a Nashville club and signed Hill to a recording contract.
In 1988, she married music executive and songwriter, Dan Hill. She used his surname as her stage name. They divorced in 1994.
In 1994, Hill's album "Take Me as I Am" debuted. With the success of the single, "Wild One," Hill became the first female country singer in 30 years to hold Billboard’s No. 1 position for four consecutive weeks.
In 1996, Hill began the "Spontaneous Combustion Tour" with Tim McGraw. The pair became engaged on tour and married on October 6, 1996. They have three daughters.
