KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Bruce Springsteen is searching for answers after his cousin and assistant road manager was found dead Monday at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kansas City.
"Lenny Sullivan, Bruce's cousin and the assistant road manager of the E Street Band for the last 10 years, passed away today at the age of 36," read a statement on Springsteen's Web site. "A warm and sensitive person, he was beloved by Bruce, the Band, the crew, and the entire Thrill Hill family."
Sullivan's death came hours before Springsteen and the E Street Band were scheduled to take the stage for a show at the Sprint Center.
Kansas City police said they are investigating, but don't consider the death to be suspicious.
Tickets for the canceled show will be refunded at the point of purchase.
"Bruce and The Band deeply appreciate the understanding of our Kansas City audience and look forward to returning at the earliest opportunity," the group said.
Springsteen is scheduled to appear at Thursday's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert at Madison Square Garden.
