NEW YORK — Brooklyn Decker says her "mom cried" after finding out the stunning model would grace the cover of this year's Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
"We're all on pins and needles before the issue comes out, because the cover is something all the girls want so badly," Decker told People. "So it's nice for my family because they don't have to stress about it anymore."
The 22-year-old Decker was revealed as the 2010 cover girl on Monday's Late Show with David Letterman when a sheet was removed to unveil a billboard version of the cover in Times Square. Tabbed "A Perfect 10," Decker is clad in a yellow bikini with her arms crossed across over her chest and a bikini top hanging over her shoulder. The cover was shot in the Maldives by legendary SI photographer Walter Iooss Jr.
"THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!" Decker tweeted shortly after the cover was revealed. "I wish I could respond to every single one of you but thank you so much for your AMAZINGLY sweet tweets!"
Decker, who made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2006, joins a legacy of supermodels who have adorned the magazine's annual cover including Kathy Ireland, Cheryl Tiegs, Heidi Klum, Elle MacPherson, Tyra Banks and Petra Nemcova.
So is Decker's husband, tennis star Andy Roddick, at all jealous now that she's gracing the mag's coveted cover?
"No. He's so proud," she said. "I think this gives him a one-up in the locker room for the next year or so."
