HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The cat is out of the bag on "Slumdog Millionaire" costars Dev Patel and Freida Pinto.
After months of rumors about whether the pair was dating, their off-screen relationship has finally been confirmed by a rather reliable source — Patel's mother!
"First it was the film and now everything else seems to have slotted into place," she told London's Daily Mirror in an interview Monday.
"Life can't get any better for him," continued Patel's proud mother. "Freida is really beautiful, and I am really happy for them."
Patel, 18, and Pinto, 24, became the subject of dating rumors while enjoying the ride of their hit movie, which snagged best picture honors at February's Academy Awards. They've long denied a romantic relationship, but a recent photograph of the pair snuggling in Israel, where Pinto is currently shooting a movie, may have been the final straw.
"He's just an ordinary boy," said Patel's mother. "We're very proud of him."
