HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Blake Shelton says life is much easier now that he's proposed to girlfriend Miranda Lambert.
"The beatings from her are less severe and less frequent now that I've stepped up, so that's been a good thing," the country star jokingly tells People.
The "Hillbilly Bone" singer popped the question on May 9 after first asking for permission to marry the fellow country star. Lambert said she's soaking up the moment and not worrying too much about the wedding details.
"We are both so busy that we have people helping us with the plans," she told the mag. "I am just trying to enjoy being engaged. It's kind of a magical time."
"I feel like I can relax," added Shelton. "Every time she has an idea for the wedding that she tells me about, I tell her it's the same thing I was thinking. It's all good."
Shelton, 34, and Lambert, 26, have been dating for five years. They plan to marry next spring.
