LOS ANGELES — Up in the Air, Precious and Inglourious Basterds each picked up three nominations to lead the field of contenders for the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, organizers announced Thursday.
Up in the Air star George Clooney received a lead actor nomination. Others nominated in the category were Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), Colin Firth (A Single Man), Morgan Freeman (Invictus) and Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker).
On the lead actress side, the nominees are Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side), Helen Mirren (The Last Station), Carey Mulligan (An Education), Gabourey Sidibe (Precious) and Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia).
Best overall motion picture cast nominees are An Education, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds, Nine and Precious.
On the television side, the nominees for best actor in a drama series are Simon Baker (The Mentalist), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Hugh Laurie (House).
Best actress in a drama series nods went to Patricia Arquette (Medium), Glenn Close (Damages), Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU), Holly Hunter (Saving Grace), Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife) and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer).
For best actor in a comedy series, the nominees are Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Steve Carell (The Office), Larry David (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Tony Shalhoub (Monk) and Charlie Sheen (Two and a Half Men).
The best actress in a comedy series category features nominees Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?), Toni Collette (United States of Tara), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Tina Fey (30 Rock) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (The New Adventures of Old Christine).
The SAG Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on Jan. 23, 2010 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, 7 p.m. CT, and 6 p.m. MT from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.
