HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel are starting their family!
The longtime couple, who married in 2003 after seven years of dating, are expecting their first child. Their baby is due later this year, a rep for the pair confirmed to Us Weekly.
Diggs, 38, and Menzel, 37, first met in 1995 when they co-starred in the original Broadway production of "Rent."
Menzel previously told Us that Diggs has long wanted to become a father.
"He wouldn't talk about marriage, but he'd talk about me having his children," she said. "He's always wanted kids. He grew up with four younger brothers and sisters, so he's very comfortable around children."
One year after tying the knot, the "Private Practice" star and the Tony award-winning actress were targeted in a series of threatening letters that cited their interracial marriage. No arrests were ever made in the case.
