HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The woman in the middle of Shania Twain and Robert "Mutt" Lange's marriage split has denied playing any part in the couple's falling out.
Marie-Anne Thiébaud, 37, an employee who worked for the couple as a secretary and manager of their chateau in Switzerland, spoke out against a recent report by People magazine, which claimed she was having an affair with Lange.
"When marriages break up, they break up for all sorts of complicated reasons, it's never just one reason. And those reasons should be kept private," Thiébaud told E! News.
"If you're looking for a person that broke up a marriage, then you have the wrong person. I'm not that person," she added.
Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, announced that they were separating after 14 years of marriage last week.
They have one child together, 6-year-old son, Eja D'Angelo.
Earlier this week, a source told People that Lange and Thiébaud had become involved. The relationship reportedly led to Thiébaud leaving her husband, and the source claimed she and Lange were still dating.
Lange immediately shot down the allegations when contacted by People.
"It's absolutely not the reason [for the separation]," he told the magazine.
"I'm not, no," the record producer added, when asked if he was dating Thiébaud. "It's not true."
