HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Rihanna is getting funky with the debut of her "Rude Boy" music video.
The 21-year-old singer embraces her Caribbean roots in the video, dancing around in a variety of vibrant colors for the latest single off her Rated R album.
"[It's] completely different from any other video I've shot before," Rihanna recently told Carson Daly on his Amp Radio show. "A lot of my videos are really dark and edgy and tough. 'Rude Boy' is more playing along the lines from my roots. We used a lot of color, but also the costumes were very Jamaican dance-hall-queen type."
The video was shot by Melina Matsoukas, who was also behind Rihanna's "Hard" video.
Rihanna recently quashed gossip about her love life, insisting she's "not dating anyone — I'm single." That was followed by rumored boyfriend, Los Angeles Dodgers star Matt Kemp, saying the Grammy winner is "just a friend, a good friend of mine."
"We went down to Mexico and had fun together," Kemp said in an interview on the Dodgers Web site of the paparazzi frenzy surrounding their recent Cabo San Lucas vacation.
