HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Seven years is apparently enough for Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri.
The longtime couple has reportedly split, sources tell Us Weekly.
"His friends are telling people it's over," an insider told the mag.
While it remains unclear when the couple's breakup happened, it was apparently before the death of the 43-year-old singer's brother, Michael Jackson, on June 25. In fact, Dupri, 36, was noticeable absent from the music icon's memorial at the Staples Center last week.
"They have been moving in different directions for a while," said a source.
During the course of their relationship, the pair collaborated on several occasions, with Dupri producing several tracks on his ex-girlfriend's last two albums.
"You shouldn't mix business with pleasure," a friend of the former couple told the mag. "Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate."
The breakup revelation comes as Jackson continues to mourn her older brother's tragic death.
"She's devastated," an insider said. "She's busy caring for Michael's kids. Janet's the family's backbone."
