HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Melissa Etheridge is officially ending her relationship with Tammy Lynn Michaels after nine years together.
On Friday, the singer filed a Petition for Dissolution of Domestic Partnership in L.A. County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences for the split, according to TMZ.
Etheridge is asking for joint custody of the couple's 3-year-old twins - son Miller and daughter Johnnie Rose.
The "Fearless Love" singer, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, also has two children with her former partner, Julie Cypher.
Etheridge, 49, and Michaels, 35, exchanged vows in Malibu in September 2003.
The twosome first went public with their separation back in April.
