HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Megan Fox is headed for her first dramatic screen role, an indie project that will cast her opposite Mickey Rourke.
The 22-year-old actress has been lined up to star in "Passion Plays," in which she'll portray a 1950s angel in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Oscar-nominated Rourke will play a down-on-his-luck trumpet player who seeks redemption by trying to rescue Fox's character, the trade publication said.
The film, which will mark the directorial debut of Mitch Glazer, is described as a heartwarming tale.
"Passion" will mark a new direction for Fox, who shot to fame in the 2007 action movie "Transformers." The young star next returns opposite Shia LaBeouf in the film's sequel, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," which arrives in theaters this summer.
Fox is also lined up for the upcoming Diablo Cody film, "Jennifer's Body."
Rourke also has a busy schedule after reviving his career in "The Wrestler" last year, including a villian role in "Iron Man 2."
