HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller may be experiencing marital issues since their Christmas Day blowout, but they are not headed for a divorce – at least not yet.
"Since the December 25 incident involving Charlie and Brooke Sheen, the couple have been going through their marital trials and tribulations, and have been the subject of enormous speculation in the media," the couple's respective attorneys, Mark Burg and Yale Galanter, said in a joint statement Monday to E! News.
"Over-speculation, if there is such a word, would be more accurate."
"Please let us clarify this: They are not seeking a divorce nor has one been contemplated. There has been no financial agreements between the parties of any sort. Stories to the contrary are false.
"The couple asks that their privacy be respected at this time."
Sheen pleaded not guilty in March to domestic violence charges stemming from the Christmas incident in which he allegedly held a knife to Mueller's throat during a holiday getaway to Aspen, Colo. His trial is scheduled to begin in July.
Sheen, 44, and Mueller, 32, tied the knot in May 2008. They welcomed their first children, 13 month-old twin sons Bob and Max, last year.
