HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jessica Simpson says she's not afraid to wear her heart on her sleeve and she expects much of the same in return.
"I just love, so I don't understand when people can't do exactly what I do," the 28-year-old singer reveals in the latest issue of People magazine.
Admitting that she had to "regain self-esteem and self-value" following her split with John Mayer last summer, Simpson says current boyfriend Tony Romo is "the perfect guy."
"I just told him today, 'You're the love of my life,' " she tells the magazine. "I don't really ever say that to anybody."
Last week, Simpson made headlines when she appeared on Nashville's 107.5 FM's Woody and Jim show and was asked about Carrie Underwood's recent comments that Romo, her ex, still calls her.
"Tony and I both laughed at that," Simpson told the show. "We got a chuckle out of it."
As for her own exes still being in touch, Simpson that's not possible since she changed her cell phone number and e-mail address once she started dating the Dallas Cowboys star.
"I don't want anybody that's been in my life [before] in my life anymore," she says. "I don't even want them to have any way of contacting me."
