HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jay Leno was released from the hospital Friday after an overnight stay forced him to miss his first "Tonight Show" in 17 years.
According to Access Hollywood, the 58-year-old talk-show host departed St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank around 1 p.m.
Leno fell ill early Thursday and checked into the hospital, which is located adjacent to where his "Tonight Show" is taped at NBC's studios. The network canceled tapings on both Thursday and Friday, the first time that has happened in Leno's 17-year tenure on the show.
The funnyman's illness has yet to be disclosed, but a rep for Leno told People that the hospitalization was simply precautionary.
"It was symptomatic of nothing serious," his rep said. "I think it was a dehydration."
Leno is expected to be back on the job Monday.
As previously revealed by the network, Conan O'Brien will take over "Tonight Show" hosting duties on June 1, with Leno moving into his new NBC primetime gig that will begin airing on weeknights in the fall.
