LOS ANGELES — Despite being the mother of two young children with her rocker husband, Coldplay's Chris Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow wants everyone to know she's far from over the hill.
"I'm probably less square than people think," the 36-year-old actress admits in the March issue of the U.K. edition of Elle.
Paltrow and Martin, who married in 2003, are proud parents to 4-year-old daughter Apple and 2-year-old son Moses, but the "Iron Man" star insists mommy duties haven't stopped her from living.
"I wish smoking didn't kill you. And you know what I had the other day which I loved? A French Martini. I had one too many," she reveals to the mag.
Paltrow has been turning plenty of heads of late with a post-baby figure that she credits to Tracey Anderson, the celebrity fitness trainer who also works with such stars as Madonna. So fit is Paltrow that she recently drew criticism for wearing a dress that many considered too-short. The outfit was designed by her friend Stella McCartney.
"People don't realize, sometimes you wear a dress because your friend made it," she tells Elle. "I just got out of sweatpants, out of mummy mode. I love fashion, but when you're breastfeeding and you're a stone-and-a-half overweight, it's demoralizing to try to wear good clothes."
The red carpet has been the source of another tabloid topic — rumors that Paltrow's marriage to Martin is on the rocks since the two always avoid being photographed together.
"It doesn't behoove us to be a public couple," explains Paltrow, brushing off the suggestion of trouble. "He certainly doesn't want to be that. We've never ever walked down a red carpet together, we never will. If people think that that means we're not together, then — ha ha ha! — so be it."
