HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Score another victory for the gang at William McKinley.
Matthew Morrison, who stars on the hit Fox series Glee, has signed an exclusive worldwide recording deal with Mercury Records, the label announced Thursday.
The 31-year-old star will hit the studio soon to begin production on his debut album, which is scheduled for release in the fall.
Morrison recently received a Golden Globe nomination for his breakout television role, in which he portrays glee club director Will Schuester.
Prior to Glee, Morrison made a name for himself on the theatre scene, where his first major Broadway role came as heartthrob Link Larkin in Hairspray. He was later nominated for a Tony Award for his role in The Light in the Piazza, while also scoring a Drama Desk nomination for 10 Million Miles.
Morrison, who studied at New York University's renowned Tisch School of the Arts, most recently appeared in the Tony Award-winning revival of South Pacific at the Lincoln Center Theater in New York.
