LONDON — British pop star Amy Winehouse has canceled her scheduled appearance at the upcoming Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, her rep confirmed Monday to The Associated Press.
Spokesman Chris Goodman told AP that Winehouse won't be performing at the festival in "light of current legal issues."
The 25-year-old singer was charged with assault last week for allegedly attacking a fan at a London charity ball last September.
Individuals charged with a crime often have a difficult time obtaining a visa to travel to the U.S., a challenge Winehouse previously faced when trying to attend the 2008 Grammy Awards.
Winehouse is due in court next week.
