HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Amanda Bynes is returning to the small screen.
The 22-year-old actress will star in the new ABC pilot "Canned," Variety reports.
The project revolves around a group of friends who are all fired on the same day.
Bynes will star as a naive Midwestern girl named Sarabeth who fails to realize she's being exploited by her boss.
She joins the previously cast Tim Peper, Stephanie Lemelin and Baron Vaughn on the series.
Bynes first rose to fame as a teen starring on Nickelodeon. She later starred alongside Jennie Garth on the WB sitcom "What I Like About You," which ended its four-year run in 2006.
The Southern California native has spent most of her time of late on the big screen, starring in such films as "She's the Man," "Hairspray" and "Sydney White."
Her most recent acting credit was the 2008 Lifetime movie "Living Proof," in which she co-starred alongside Harry Connick Jr.
