HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Shenae Grimes says it's "frustrating" having to hear ongoing rumors suggesting that she has an eating disorder.
"Meet me in person, and you can't say anything. No bones sticking out," the "90210" star tells People of the rumors, which began shortly after her new series hit the air in September. "Just because people are calling you skinny doesn't mean I'm like, 'Yay!' No! You're telling me I don't look right. This is me, this is my body — I have accepted it."
The 5-foot-3-inch actress tells the magazine that she definitely doesn't have an eating disorder, but did watch a close friend deal with the disease in the past. Grimes also says it's been difficult to hear rumors about being difficult on the "90210" set, as well as being a party girl around Hollywood.
"Nobody has asked me about it. I really can't help what someone thinks of me because they are reading a paper and choosing to believe it," explains Grimes, who says her busy work schedule leaves little time for play.
The 19-year-old star tells People she understands that the rumors come with the territory.
"These are stories that have been written about everybody," Grimes says. "Of course we're the new girls on a hit show so we're plopped into these little boxes. And people buy it. It makes me totally second guess anything I've ever read about anybody."
