LOS ANGELES – Beyonce is turning heads with the release of her "Run the World (Girls)" music video.
The singer's hot new video premiered Wednesday night on "American Idol" – and later on her official website. On the Francis Lawrence-directed clip, Beyonce prances around in high-fashion couture while surrounded by countless dancers – and animals.
Beyonce's longtime choreographer tells MTV that the plan was to have the dance moves in the video reflect several genres, including jazz, street, hip-hop and African.
"We prepared a lot for it," explained Frank Gatson Jr. "We had seen something on YouTube; we had seen these three guys from Africa, this Mozambique African dance troupe ... we were like, 'Wow, this is an amazing movement.' "
"Run the World (Girls)" is the first single off Beyonce's forthcoming album, "4," which drops next month.
