LOS ANGELES – Simon Cowell is renovating his mansion - because the brickwork looked unbalanced.
The music mogul was reportedly envious of the neat edging on a house close to his London home and after deciding the mortar in his walls was "sub-standard" is now undergoing extensive work on the exterior of his $18.9 million west London property.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Simon is very picky about certain things and needs a lot of order in his life.
"He likes things regimented and structured but his behavior over the brickwork took his friends who know about his OCD by surprise."
As well as straightening the brickwork on his home, Simon is said to have recently spent $32,000 retiling his terrace.
The 'X Factor' chief had decided the old tiles were 2cm too small - but after five weeks, he had the outdoor area refurbished back to its old look after deciding the smaller slates were "off-shade".
Simon has previously admitted he gets very distracted when there is order missing in his life.
He said: "I hate belongings. I hate clutter. It really bothers me because I can't think properly. If you've got distractions in front of you, your mind goes nuts."
