HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Nicole Kidman has opened up about new baby daughter Faith, her second child with husband Keith Urban.
In a Sunday night interview with Australia's 60 Minutes, the 43-year-old star broke into tears as she talked about the unidentified gestational carrier who gave birth to the couple's child on Dec. 28.
"She was the most wonderful woman to do this for us," Kidman said. "We were in a place of desperately wanting another child. This opportunity arose for us, and I couldn't get pregnant. And we wanted another baby."
The Oscar winner also talked about her "roller coaster ride with fertility."
"Anyone that's been in the place of wanting another child or wanting a child knows the disappointment, the pain and the loss that you go through trying and struggling with fertility," she explained. "Fertility is such a big thing, and it's not something I've ever run away from talking about."
Faith is Kidman's second child with Urban. The two welcomed their first daughter, Sunday Rose, in July 2008. The actress also has two adopted children – Isabella and Connor – with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
"Children are children – you'll die for your children," she said. "And when you feel that as parent – that's the unconditional love."
