NEW YORK — Former NFL star Lawrence Taylor pleaded guilty Thursday to a pair of misdemeanor sex charges, stemming from his arrest last year for felony statutory rape.
The Hall of Fame linebacker entered a guilty plea to one count of sexual misconduct and one count of patronizing a 16-year-old prostitute. As a result, he will be sentenced to six years' probation.
While he won't serve any jail time, Taylor is required to register as a sex offender. He must also pay $1,300 in fees.
Taylor, 51, was arrested on May 6, 2010 at a Holiday Inn in Montebello, New York. Police say the girl was a runaway who was forced into prostitution. The former New York Giants star admitted to paying $300 for sex acts with the girl, but said he was told she was 19.
His sentencing is set for March 22.
