LOS ANGELES – Cheryl Cole swapped numbers with a British soldier on her recent trip to Afghanistan and is hoping to arrange a date.
The Girls Aloud beauty - who travelled to Helmand province in the war torn country on a morale boosting trip for troops - was so taken with the military hunk she is planning to call him and "see what happens".
She said: "Not only are the soldiers incredibly brave, a few of them were also incredibly cute.
"I actually came back with a phone number from one lad.although I think his talking to me was a dare. He started chatting to me after I'd been shot at during a training exercise.
"Obviously it wasn't real ammunition but it was still terrifying. Anyway I think I am going to call him this week and we'll see what happens. I'm sure he's not expecting me to ring but that's why it'll be funny and that's why I'm going to do it."
However, Cheryl - who says she made some life long friendships during her trip - is realistic about the chances of a long distance relationship surviving.
The 'Fight for This Love' singer - who was previously married to soccer star Ashley Cole - told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Long-distance relationships are a nightmare - a big time difference is a killer because it's just so hard to stay in touch.
"I'd love to stay in touch with some of the incredible people I was lucky enough to meet."
