PHOENIX — Bret Michaels has been released from the hospital, two days after undergoing heart surgery in Arizona.
On Monday, doctors closed a hole in the rock star's heart at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, a surgery they deemed as "successful."
"Bret's procedure had excellent results," said Dr. Mansour Assar, interventional cardiologist at St. Joseph's. "Because of the successful outcome and Bret's determination, I believe he will be able to return to normal activity within weeks."
Michaels, 47, was treated at the hospital in April for a life-threatening brain hemorrhage. During that treatment, it was determined that he suffered from a patent foramen ovale (PFO), a hole in the heart.
